A Proposition...

Good Idea or Bad Idea...

I think I should study Parrotheads for my field study this summer. Also there is a Church of Buffett that I could research. Awesome right?!

Please enlighten me with your thoughts. Thanks.

Behold the Wonder Wipers

video

Also Troy got me new windshield wipers. They are probably the most amazing thing you'll ever experience. Naturally we decided to go to a gas station and pour water on the window so that we could watch the new wipers do their thing. Also Troy makes the best face in the world. I am clearly not as capable.

Aren't you glad I shared all this with you? Its late and I don't want to sleep yet. You're welcome.

The Official Start of Being 21

Basically this is what my summer consists of:

sitting in bed
pilates
swimming
showering
eating
sleeping

Not too shabby right? And as a special a bonus, my best friend of 10 years has been in town for the summer. Its the first summer that we've had together in two years so that has been wonderful. I love that we can spend time apart but when we get together, everything is perfectly normal.

This summer we both turned 21. Due to my Mormon-ness there wasn't much of a difference between 20 and 21 for me. However, this week I got to take advantage of my age for the very first time. Evyan, her mother and I went to the M Casino to eat dinner before she left for Chicago (sidenote: hi she is going to Lollapalooza...amazing). Once we got there we realized that if you sign up for an "iMagine card" you get $5 free slot play! ABUH FIVE DOLLARS IN FREE SLOT PLAY!?! yes we signed up and yes we played and yes it was hilarious. We played all the good games including Kitty Glitter. Yes, there is a slot called Kitty Glitter. However, we finally settled in at the poker machines.

Guess who walked out of there $3.75 richer. Oh yeah it was me. I realized if you hit cash out whenever you are slightly ahead the machine makes a lot of noise and its possible to fool people into thinking you actually won a bunch of money...even though in my case it was usually less than a dollar. However, you may now refer to me as "Big Winner" if you so desire.

When we got home we decided it was time to celebrate. Thus, we did the only logical option, we decided to make cookies. While gathering ingredients, my dear Evyan saw a recipe on the back of the bag of chocolate chips. Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Brownies. What does that look like you might ask. Well, it looks something like this...

They were delish. Highly recommended. They are way rich though so less chocolate would be good. Or semi-sweet chocolate. Milk chocolate is just a bit overwhelming in my opinion.

After eating we went on a walk as we usually do at night. When we got back we sat around, watched TV, and I helped slash just watched Evyan pack. Sad day. Also I bonded with Kit-tee some more. The only cat I've ever got along with. I dedicate this post to you and your homo tendencies kittttteeee. And to you too Max. Even though you hate me.

A Close Call

I was doing so good with the blogging thing. I don't know where I went wrong. Actually I do. I went to Utah for the weekend and ended up staying a week. And that is the story of my summer. Ah the joys of having no responsibilities.

When I came home I noticed my fish, Missy Higgins the lesbian transvestite, was not looking good. I bought her this bamboo stick which normally she loves. However, if you don't change the water consistently the bamboo starts growing this weird green fuzz...not attractive. I should have changed the water before I left but I honestly didn't think about it. I mean I was only planning on being gone 3 days.

Anyways, I changed the water when I got home but she was still not looking good. I ended up having to buy medicine and nurse my poor Missy back to health. It was a scary couple days and I honestly wasn't sure she was going to make it. She wouldn't eat at all and kept floating on her side. Then randomly she would get bursts of energy and try to Free Willy out the top of the bowl. I'm happy to report that after living in bright blue medicine water for a week and being watched pretty much all day, Missy has returned to her normal yet completely neurotic self. And its lovely having her back.

Thanks for not dying Missy!

This post contains images which may not be suitable for anti-bug bite lovers. Viewer discretion is advised.

Bugs and I don't really mix too well. I don't really have anything against them but they clearly do not like me. Most of the time they leave me alone. That seems to the best thing for our relationship. However, occasionally they decide its time to reacquaint ourselves. Trust me, its never my decision.

This usually leads to them biting me. Why? I don't know. They never just stop in to say hi and then go along their way though. They always have to take some extreme measures to come back into my life. As we remember from the "Mysterious Bug In the Grass While Playing Soccer Incident of 2007" I don't react well to bug bites. (see photo)

Two nights ago I was sitting in my bed. I've been a bit sick recently so I was having a hard time sleeping due to a most annoying sore throat. Thus, I got out my computer and was doing who knows what. I saw a small bug flying around, probably attracted to the light or something stupid. I thought about getting rid of it but it was so small that I figured he'd fly out of my room and go on his way. About an hour after I was finally able to sleep, I woke up all itchy. I had little bites everywhere. I don't know if my little friend was the culprit but it was not a pleasant experience. Then again this morning, I woke up with even more. They look like mosquito bites but I think I would have found a mosquito by now. And trust me, I've been looking. About 10 minutes ago I saw my little friend again so I'm choosing to blame him. This time I wasn't so trusting though and he was kindly escorted off the premises. The funny thing about me and bug bites is they never stay small. They grow. Its a talent of mine really.

This one is one of my favorites. The smaller dot on the left is one of the newer ones from last night. The one on the right is from 2 nights ago. Look at that growth! Taaaaalent.

These are on the inside of my arm. I've been trying to think of something clever I could draw around them. Maybe turn them in to big red eyeballs or something to scare people that are walking behind me. If you have any thoughts let me know?

Last but not least this is a close up of the lower one in the picture just above this. It has grown since yesterday as well. Although, its kind of hard to tell. You can see the layers if you look closely. I should be in a circus. Aren't you glad I'm documenting all of this?!

All things considered, the experience hasn't been all bad. I mean besides the horrible itchiness, I have gotten quite a few laughs out of this. I mean how many other people would this happen to? Its fairly typical for me though. And luckily the two bites right near my eye have stayed decently small so far. And it could always be worse. Seriously. Lets not forget the Mexican Jellyfish Fiasco of 2005.

I am old.

So Sunday was my birthday. This means I can officially buy alcohol, go on a cruise by myself, and check into hotels. Basically I can do anything I want...except rent a car. To celebrate my rapidly approaching adulthood, we went to California for the weekend. Troy was miraculously able to come so Friday after work, he escaped the dreaded land of Mr. Network and came to Vegas. They even let him off a bit early so he got here around 10 or so on Friday. Then Saturday, bright and early, we headed to California. It was only a three hour drive...how awesome is that.

We walked around Downtown Disney for a while then headed to the hotel, swam a bit, and got ready for the baseball game. Yes, we spent 4th of July doing the most American thing ever...attending a baseball game. The drunks were out in full force which led to quite an enjoyable game in my opinion.

The actual game turned out to be really good too. Not that you can tell from the excitement portrayed on my brothers' faces. In their defense, it started out pretty slow. Thankfully it really picked up. The Angels won which was surprising...no offense. They were pretty behind so it was quite the comeback.

By the time the game ended it was pretty late so we stopped at Del Taco ( cheap tacos and fish tacos wrapped in foil...yay America!) then headed back to sleep. The next morning was my birthday so naturally we had to wake up extremely early. Yay Disneyland!

[insert Disneyland pictures from my dad's camera which have not yet been uploaded here]

I do love Disneyland. I can't even explain it. Kind of like Twilight. Anyways, it was surprisingly not crowded for a holiday weekend. In fact, it was almost empty. There was basically no wait for anything. Loooooved it. Troy's back was all messed up but he is a "champ" and went on everything with me...including all the horrible Fantasyland neon and blacklight, little car rides. Since I don't have the pictures from Disneyland we'll just use this one to show how "champy" he is. Champ is the first word you thought of when you saw that picture isn't it? I know. Anyways we were at Disneyland all day. Let me repeat that, we were there ALL day. As in we were there when the gates opened at 8 am and left a bit after midnight. I fully enjoyed it though. I could probably live there...probably. Not for sure though. After Disneyland we somehow got back to the hotel, opened presents (hi new Indo Board which has quickly become my new best friend of the summer) and slept.

Monday we headed back. Once in Vegas, Troy and I went out to lunch where he somehow convinced half the people working at Chili's to embarrass me with birthday songs, then we stopped at Target and headed back to my house. Then he left me...for Utah. I'm always getting ditched for Utah. I don't know what Utah has but apparently it must be pretty cool.

Overall, I would say it was a very successful weekend.

In additional news...I found a camera charger around the house that also works for my camera so I finally uploaded some old pictures. I would like to leave you with this little gem which has been waiting ever so patiently to be unleashed on the world.

Do we love Kirby? The answer is yes.

An old update.

I have something to write about! It happened a long time ago but I just found some pictures so that makes it an acceptable thing to write about yeah?

Ready?

So one time, I went to Utah to see Lakin and Robb get married. On this same trip...I flew a plane. yes thats right, I flew a plane. An actual plane. That was in the air. And no one died. It only had two seats so poor Bolton had to sit on the floor in the back. That didn't go over well when Bruce started making the plane drop and such. Other than hitting his head on the roof all the time I don't think he totally hated it. We flew from Provo airport down to Nephi and then back. I only flew to Nephi though, then I so graciously let Bruce do his thing on the way back. It was way fun though.

Annnnd here is my proof.

Two posts in one week. I'm getting better.

P.S. Jordan, your turn is coming.
